Week 4 - Singing the Story

——————

What’s required to be a storyteller?

  1. Intention
    1. “Pre-Thought” - Understanding the situation the character is in prior to the first words of the song.Establish your character.
  2. Communication
    1. What do you want the audience to know? Overall and phrase by phrase.
    2. Once you have asked for their attention, never lose that connection.
    3. Keep talking to them like they’re real people.
  3. Expression
    1. Telling a good story requires you to imagine it and let your voice and body express it!

Example

  1. You fell asleep at a tavern and when you woke, you were on board a pirate ship singing this song!
  2. Your daddy was a pirate, your mama was a pirate and you too are a proud pirate!
  3. Pirateting was all you knew until you met “them” on land at salty sea Tavern. Now you can’t think of anything but them.
