Week 3: Learn How Harmony Rings
Welcome to Oceanaires Summer Sing! Finding Your Voice Through Four-Part Harmony
A seven-week journey of music, friendship, and discovering the joy of singing.
Last Week's Rehearsal
Week 3 - Barbershop Resonance
Lesson:
Word Sounds
Vowel Placement/Resonance:

Consonants
Can consonants be tall? Yes!

Moving Air
- Vocal freedom is achieved through efficiency of the vocal apparatus.
- Force does not create resonance... efficiency creates resonance.

Exercises
- Record yourself singing Gee then sing with the recording while singing all vowels (goal is to keep all vowels in “Gee” resonance).
- Practice in front of the mirror singing all the tongue consonants (T, L, D, NG, G, K) without moving the jaw!
- Practice singing one note from soft to loud and then back down again. < > Air pressure, not force, increases volume with Ring.
- Practice Moving Air on a “Z” or “V” (Row, row row your boat then your songs).
Reflection
